Encefalopatia Wernicke este un sindrom care se caracterizeaza prin ataxie, confuzie, oftalmoplegie si afectarea memoriei pe termen scurt, determinat de leziuni la nivelul nucleilor talamici mediani, urmare a consumului mare de alcool, malnutrie prelungita, boli infectioase.

Semne si simptome:
-ataxie, oftalmoplegie
-tulburari de memorie
-hipotermie cu hipotensiune arteriala
-delirium tremens.
